Samsung to Bring Blockchain Features to its Low-budget Phones

Samsung, the South Korean electronics giant plans to integrate a cryptocurrency wallet, previously available only on the Galaxy S10, into lower-cost models of Galaxy phones. In this way, the company intends to expand the crypto features to more jurisdictions.[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Chae Won-cheol, senior managing director of the product strategy team at Samsung Electronics’ wireless business division, said: “We will lower barriers to new experiences by gradually expanding the number of Galaxy models that support blockchain functions. We will also expand our service target countries after Korea, the United States and Canada.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]In addition, the company plans to further expand blockchain-based digital identity verification tools and other initiatives. Samsung wants to launch a blockchain-powered mobile ID card with the support of two local telecom operators such as SK Telecom and KT Corporation (formerly Korea Telecom).  The Samsung Blockchain Wallet is currently only available on Samsung’s recently launched flagship phone range, the Galaxy S10.
